Is Life On Earth Really a Miracle?

That's hard to say really, and I bet we find life on every planet in the solar system, at least some type of life, even if it is merely microbes, bacteria, or other forms of life. Indeed, we are going to have to do a better job of where we are looking. For instance, running a rover around the surface of Mars is probably not the best place to find the kind of life we might be looking for.

After all, the kind of life we will be looking for is life that uses water, and the most common compounds found on the surface of Earth and in our oceans. However, Mars does not have our type of atmosphere, and there are not large oceans. So if we are going to find life which lives and exists due to H2O, we are going to have to go to the polar ice caps of Mars, and dig underground in places where water might exist.

Not long ago, an acquaintance, Mark from the UK mentioned to me that; "Carl Sagan's Blue Dot really frames the way my mind works, we live on what is a miracle of nature," and as he made that statement he was explaining why we need to take care of this biosphere and curtail unnecessary pollution.

Now then, I agree that Earth is a decent platform, prison (1) or space ship traveling through space time. Species on this planet have adapted to harness its abundance and exploit various niches quite well. Indeed, I would submit to you that if Earth had a different atmosphere, and different compounds were in more abundance than the compounds we find most often, that there would still be life here, it would just be different, and it would've evolved in a different way.

In which case, humans most likely would not exist, and certainly not in this form, however there would be other species, perhaps some vegetation, mold, fungus, bacteria, and perhaps some sort of insects living under the ground. Wouldn't that also be a miracle?

Okay so, when we find life on Mars, which I'm certain we will, can we all agree that it is a miracle, or should we come to the realization that it's not really a miracle, there is life all over the solar system, and probably in most of the solar systems throughout the galaxy, and with that said there's probably some type of life in nearly all galaxies that we are aware of, and also in those galaxies we are not aware of yet. Please consider all this and think on it.
